We all enjoy celebrating holidays with family and friends. Holiday traditions are an important part of building a strong bond between family, and our community. They give us a sense of belonging and a way to express what is important to us. They connect us to our history and help us celebrate generations of family. 

Be Safe
Spectacular pyrotechnic displays light up the night.  Fireworks add a burst of color and excitement  to our 4th of July celebrations. 
As impressive and fun as fireworks can be, one thing is clear: they also come with potential dangers.

Every year more than 10,000 people are treated with  firework-related.

If you're doing your fireworks from home, it only takes a few simple steps to keep you and your loved ones safe. 
 
Avoid buying professional display fireworks!

Safe-N-Sane fireworks are those that have been tested and approved by valley fire departments for use during this one week of the year. Avoid buying professional display fireworks (previoulsy known as Class B At all other times of the year, Safe-N-Sane fireworks are illegal as well as any other type of firework that flies through the air, explodes or rotates on the ground.

Assign an adult to supervise all firework activities. 

Designate a safe distance for everyone to watch.

Never point or throw fireworks at another person.

Keeping a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire and to douse used fireworks before discarding in trash. 

Never allow young children to play or ignite fireworks.

Fireworks should never be in a pocket or lit from metal or glass containers.

Never try to re-light or pickup fireworks that have not ignited fully.

Never place a part of your body directly over a firework device when lighting.

Remember Independence day is incredibly significant in American history, as it marks the day the United States officially became its own nation.

Many lives were sacrificed for our freedom. Independence Day
commemorates courage and faith.
